Perfume usually lasts from 12 month up to 3 years. You may use your perfume after that, however you may notice changes in colour or smell that is like due to oxidisation over the years.
The best way to preserve your perfume is to keep it in a dark spot, away from the sun.
-
When you spray perfume you should spray it on your pulse points like inner elbows, wrists, neck and behind your earlobes.
Spraying it in your hair and on your clothing also makes it last longer.
-
Non-toxic scents have the reputation for not lasting as long as one would hope.
However, at Evaliah, we have a whopping 40% fragrance oil in our perfumes. Meaning, our perfumes will last longer than the usual clean fragrance.
Our times (depending on peoples skin and scent sensitivity) are the following:
Lasting Times
- Skin: 4-8 hours
- Hair: 12-48 hours
- Clothing: 12-48 hours
Don't be surprised if you wake up the next morning and can smell the scent in your hair and on your clothing. It's truly remarkable.

There are many different types of scents and all of them have a unique and beautiful smell.
If you are wondering how to choose a scent that is right for you can take a read of "fragrance notes explained" tab below. It will give you a good indication of what ingredients to look for, depending on your style.
-
THE OPENING
The first stage is called the top notes phase. It is usually a concoction of incredibly enchanting oils that usually hit the senses instantly. If your perfume contains a lot of chemicals or un-natural alcohols, this smell can sometimes be quite potent and chemical smelling. This is what can usually cause an instant headache.
But if it is a plant-based alcohol and natural synthetics/plant oils, it can be quite delicious. This smell however is not meant to last. Like any good story, the beginning is just a brief introduction for the epic events that are yet to unfold.
THE PLOT
The plot, also known as the middle notes. This is where things get a little juicy. The story begins to slowly evolve, revealing some twists and turns. The scent starts to bring out some of the other oils that were sitting in the background, waiting for their cue. Even though, this particular part of the story usually lasts a little while. It is not the forever.
THE FINALE
The base notes, the finale, the lasting impression. The happily ever after to the beautifully told story. This is the final stage of the scent development. It is usually deep and intricate, and will move you in many ways. This is the smell that will last throughout the entire day. It is my favourite part of the story. (But I google endings to movies, because I love a spoiler) Like every epic finale, it leaves you guessing. This is why we do not reveal all our oils in each scent. We like to leave a bit of mystery to the story. We want to avoid any copycat or bad re-tellings of it. But trust us when we say, we have made each of our scents one for the ages.
How long each stage lasts
Top Notes: 5-15 minutes
Heart Notes: 20-60minutes
Base Notes: 6+ hours

Fresh Notes
Citrus and fresh notes are light and citrusy. They are a good basis for gender neutral scents. This type of smell is for the cool, calm and collected.
They consist of ingredients like orange, grapefruit and bergamot. These ingredients are usually crisp, fresh and light, and sometimes a little tangy.Floral Notes
Floral notes bring a natural, elegant feel to a fragrance. They are a great to layer perfumes with if thats your style. Florals create a deeper, more exaggerated scent.
There can be your typical garden bed flowers like sweet pea, magnolia, lily of the valley which can be more of a floral scent, and other flowers from fruit trees or tropical areas that give more of a fruity, tropical floral scent like ylang ylang, tuberose, plumeria or gardenia.Fruit Notes
Fruity blends seamlessly with other scents so they are great to use in layers. This specific smell is a young, vibrant and exotic vibe.
Different fruits create different vibes. Such as pear or melon are rich, smooth and sweet while berries are lighter and juicer. These types of smells remind me of your lip-smacker from the 1990's. Any millennial will catch that one. Very sweet, bubbly, candy smelling.Spice and Herb Notes
Spicy and Suave are great for gender neutral scents. These scents for the mysterious, silent assassin.
These smells bring warmth and intensity to a fragrance. They also mix well with floral scents if mixing and matching is your thing.
These are ingredients like cinnamon, myrrh, black or pink pepper, coriander and basil. Some of them create a spicy sweetness and some more of a fresh green, herbal smell. This may sound like a strange smell, but it actually blends really nicely with most ingredients.Wood Notes
Wood notes are perfection. For the bold, adventurous and sensual. These are the longer lasting, stronger smelling scents.
They consist of ingredients such as patchouli, tonka bean and sandalwood.
Most woody notes are earthy and sometimes very sweet. These smells remind me of maple, sap, honey and anything deep, golden and sweet but a grounding and soothing scent.Musk Notes
Musky notes are typically found in the base notes of fragrances, where their richness helps to anchor and keep the scent lasting longer. These types of smells are very distinct and you can almost tell immediately if a scent has musk by its powdery, soft sweetness.
